A Knoxville Man was arrested Saturday for an alleged attempted burglary.
According to court documents police responded to a report of an alleged fight in progress in the 200 block of south Attica Road Saturday morning. Upon arrival the male victim told police 44-year-old David Rankin of Knoxville had come to his home, knocked on the door at which time the victim’s girlfriend had opened the door. The victim stated his girlfriend had tried to close the door but Rankin had stuck his foot in the doorway and would not allow the door to close. The victim’s girlfriend was able to get the door closed and the victim went outside. The victim stated he was putting on a sweatshirt as he was exiting the door and was tackled to the ground by Rankin causing injury to his neck, back and arm. The victim stated he did not follow Rankin or try to strike in any way. Rankin was arrested and charged with attempted burglary 2nd degree a class D felony, as well as assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor.
