The Pella Community Foundation Board of Directors approved 28 grants to local non-profit organizations.
This year’s total of $62,000 is a record and in its 26 year history, the foundation has now awarded almost $1,000,000 in board directed grants. President of the foundation Jim Brandl says the grants this year will touch a broad cross-section of people within the community.
They will help provide summer sack lunches to area children, provide playground equipment in a location where none existed, allow middle-school students to help in the preparation of “Meals from the Heartland”, provide college scholarships for two area high school students; support the Pella area common reading program, provide support for the Fairhaven memorial gardens, and more.
