The Pella City Council continued discussion about how to extend a trail to Vermeer Corporation at a special meeting Tuesday.

At policy and planning, they reviewed seven options for a potential bike trail connecting to Vermeer Corporation along Vermeer Road. City Administrator Mike Nardini tells KNIA/KRLS News the council narrowed their selection to two choices that don’t include road reconstruction, but do call for a path either along Vermeer Road or 240th Avenue. He expects a decision will be made regarding the extension over the next two months.

According to the city’s most recent comprehensive plan, the master trail outline shows a connection to Vermeer Corporation through an extension of University Street, however, previous plans have shown the potential trail to be placed along Vermeer Road.
