The long road trip to Jewell did not end in the favor of the Mustangs last night, as the PCM girls and boys basketball squads were swept by the Hawks 41-36 and 56-44 respectively.
The girls were shorthanded due to injury and illness, but hung tough with the Hawks and found themselves only down 2 at halftime 17-15. An explosive third quarter saw the Mustangs score 17 points and get an 8 point lead, but were outscored 16-4 in the final quarter to pick up the loss. Regan Freland led the squad with 13 points.
On the boys side, offense was tough to come by as the Mustangs had no players in double-digit scoring, and struggled against the quickness of the Hawks guards. A four point third quarter, combined with hot shooting from the Hawks, gave the Mustangs their 5th loss of the season.
The girls fall to 6-13, the boys to 13-5, and both teams will next play on Tuesday hosting North Polk.
