It wasn’t as dominating as fans might have hoped, but the Pella Christian girls basketball team came out of break with an easy 42-30 victory last night over Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.

The Eagles held a slim 13-11 lead after the first quarter, but took control in the second quarter, building a 29-16 halftime advantage.

Two big keys to victory for Pella Christian were rebounding and free throwing shooting. The Eagles owned a 45-36 edge on the glass, and made 9-of-12 free throws while the Rockettes were only 3-of-16.

Isabella Baugh scored 14 points and added 12 rebounds, Mary Kate Bandstra added 10 points and Kaley Wilson chipped in eight.

Pella Christian improves to 7-3 on the season, and faces a tough task with a trip to Grinnell on Friday night. The Tigers are undefeated and none of their nine wins have been by less than 17 points.
