Annexation strategies and a contract with the Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau are on the agenda of policy and planning for the Pella City Council following regular business Tuesday.
Bob Veenstra with Veenstra & Kimm will facilitate conversation with the council as to how to plan their annexation priorities for future growth in the city.
A contract renewal with the Pella Convention and Visitors Bureau is also on the agenda. The council will consider options for providing a portion of hotel-motel funds to the organization to promote tourism. Two primary options will be considered — a five year extension, in which the CVB receives 60% of hotel-motel tax dollars, as is currently the case, or a two-year contract with a set amount of funds, not a percentage. City staff added the second option after the Pella CVB announced their plans to separate from the PACE Alliance, with uncertainty looming with property tax backfill from the state, and a likely increase in capital project funding requests expected over the next several fiscal years.
No formal action will be taken, but discussion will begin immediately following the Pella City Council regular meeting Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Public Safety Complex on Liberty Street.
