A candidate is running for the Iowa House District 79 seat opened by current Representative Guy Vander Linden’s retirement.

New Sharon Mayor and Oskaloosa-based Attorney Dustin Hite has filed papers for candidacy to run as a Republican in the upcoming primary. Hite tells KNIA/KRLS News he wants to serve the region on a larger scale and continue helping the area he’s called home his entire life.

“I’m watching what the state is doing–what the legislature is doing and what the governor is doing, and they’re doing really good things for our state and they’re doing rural Iowa, and I want to make sure that continues,” he says.

Hite grew up in rural Mahaska County and went to Central College for his undergraduate degree. Primary elections will be held on June 5th.
