A down-to-the-wire contest went against the Central College women’s basketball team Wednesday night, losing 76-73 to Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln.

Central, now 7-17 and 2-13 in the Iowa Conference had a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds but a 3-pointer from the school’s all-time leader in trifectas Emily Dine drew iron.

A high-scoring affair broke out when Iowa Conference champion Nebraska Wesleyan University defeated the Central College men’s basketball team 104-80. Central faced a 49-30 halftime deficit but cut the Prairie Wolves to 10 points three minutes after the break. The Dutch were within 12 with 13:52 left in the game before the Prairie Wolves finished the game on a 46-34 run.

The Dutch will honor eight seniors Saturday when Wartburg College comes to Pella for a women’s-men’s doubleheader with the women beginning at 2 p.m.
