672 wrestlers from across the state will be at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines starting today hoping to win state wrestling championships. 12 from our area are among that 672 as the State Wrestling Meet gets underway today. PCM is sending the most with six including top ranked 170 pounder Lucas Roland, who has lost just once this season in 46 matches. He will start out battling the eighth ranked wrestler Zane Williams of Webster City. Another Mustang that will have a tough opener in the 160 pound weight class will be third ranked Wed Cummings as he takes on Luke Hageman of Dyersville Beckman, who is ranked number two. Knoxville will send two grapplers, Coby Meyer at 170 pounds and Chase Bellon at 220 pounds. Pella in class 3A has one wrestler, that is 113 pounder Ryan Hancock, who will battle number nine ranked Nick Miller Waukee. Pleasantville will have three wrestlers competing, Evan Mann at 195 pounds, Chaz Clarke, ranked number three at 220 pounds in class 1A will take on Nicholas Gaes of Alta/Aurelia, and Matthew Kauffman at 285 pounds. The first session involving class 2A gets underway at nine this morning.
