The Indianola girls basketball team is headed back to the state tournament after a 60-57 defeat of Southeast Polk last night on the road.

The Indians traded blows early with the Rams, with both teams being very physical in the paint and the game tied at 15 after the first. The Rams took control through halftime, building up a lead that got as high as 8 before the Indians trimmed it to 5 heading into the fourth. A quick 4-0 run to start the fourth gave the Indians momentum, and stellar foul shooting from the free throw line helped the Indians get a lead. The Rams stuck around however, and got the ball down by just three points and had a chance to force overtime, but the shot went wide. Indianola stars Maggie McGraw and Grace Berg scored a combined 56 of the 60 points by the Indians last night, and Berg told KNIA/KRLS Sports after the game that the good shooting from charity stripe was no accident. The Indians improve to 20-3 on the season, and due to postponements will not know their opponent at the state tournament until the games can be made up.
