A bill likely to make its way through the Iowa Legislature will provide transportation funding to rural districts and potentially increase the allowable bus ride time.
Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the legislation would most likely impact smaller districts in rural counties that have students more than a five mile radius from the school buildings.
Ebeling says he supports the bill because many districts that are using general fund dollars to pay for bussing students would have additional money freed up for use on staff salaries or classroom programming.
