Medical Imaging at Pella Regional Health Center has recently installed a new CT system.

The scans offer higher image quality with a low radiation dose and a dual energy scan mode which helps to better portray tissue types. Director of Medical Imaging Jeff Bender says they aim to keep patients as safe as possible.

“While low levels of radiation are not dangerous, repeated exposure may cause problems. We continue explore ways to use the least amount of radiation possible in all of the testing we do at Pella Regional.”

Many patients have difficulty remaining still for long periods, and this system also allows for the shortest possible scanning time, minimizing the need for patients to hold their breath for quite as long during scans.
