Phone safety is an important issue for Iowa parents and children.

Recent safety precautions have taken place in the Knoxville Community School District as a result of threats made on Snapchat, as well as other social media, including participation in safety drills for all schools to go through. Knoxville School Resource Officer Kyle Keller tells KNIA/KRLS News parents need to set the ground rules early on phone use by having a discussion on how to deal with certain apps, making sure they know all the passwords, and make sure the child knows there will be consequences for the child if they do not abide by those rules. Keller adds that he thinks the Knoxville School District does a great job making sure phone use is not a distraction in the classroom.
