Local law enforcement encourages those planning to celebrate the St. Patrick’s Day holiday with alcohol to do so responsibly.
Pella Police Lt. Paul Haase tells KNIA/KRLS News the department and other agencies around the state will have extra patrols out to find drunk drivers before they can harm others on area roadways.
“We just really encourage everyone that is going to be out celebrating St. Patrick’s Day to get a designated driver, think before they drink, and plan ahead before they get behind the wheel of a vehicle,” Haase says.
In addition, Haase says officers will also be looking for those speeding, driving while distracted, and seat belt violations. The extra patrols are part of the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau sTEP enhanced enforcement program.
