The Knoxville School Board met in regular session Monday.
Concerns were raised during the open comments period, as parents of elementary school children once again brought up classroom evacuations when a student behaves violently, disrupting the well-behaved children’s learning environment. In response, the board laid out their plan for continued mental health training for teachers and staff, as well as assuring the parents the issue would be looked at more thoroughly in future meetings.
The board approved the 2018 summer school programs and a budget amendment, as well asset a public hearing on the budget amendment for April 16th anda public hearing regarding the sale of East Elementary School to the City of Knoxville, and approved a request for an overnight stay by the boys soccer program this weekend, among other items. The board also met in closed session after the meeting concluded to discuss contract negotiating strategies.
