A probation violation charge has led to jail time for a Knoxville man currently awaiting trial on separate charges for domestic abuse assault.

Court documents show that Knoxville Police were alerted that 56-year-old Anthony Smith violated a no-contact order and was found intoxicated in his home. Smith’s probation was previously agreed on in a plea deal stemming from an arrest in 2017 on charges of harassment in the 1st degree and assault on a peace officer. The 2017 plea deal involved a 15 year suspended sentence as a habitual offender and three years probation. Smith was also arrested in 2014 for possession of a firearm as a felon, and four counts of forgery and drunk driving in 2015, among numerous other charges.

Smith is awaiting trial currently on domestic assault-choking causing bodily injury and causing willful injury, both class D felonies, harassment in the 1st degree, and another probation violation charge. Smith is currently in Marion County Jail without bond awaiting a probation revocation proceeding scheduled for April 12th.
