Pella’s girls ran away with the team title at the Pella Christian Coed Track Meet last night, while the PCM boys nipped the Little Dutch at the line to claim the boys title.
In the girls meet, Pella scored 192 points, PCM was second with 138, the host Eagles tallied 97 to finish third and Pleasantville was sixth with 64.5.
Champions for the Lady Dutch were Makayla Kruse in the 800, Chelsea Jorgensen in the 1500, Emily Holterhaus in the 400 hurdles and high jump, Paighton Malek in the long jump, Elly Cairney in the discus, and the 4×100, 4×400, 4×800 and both the sprint medley and distance medley relay teams.
The Mustangs got gold medal finishes from Ashley Miller in the 100, Sierra Foster in the 200, Paytan Schut in the 400, Megan Cowman in the 100 hurdles, and the 4×200 relay squad.
Emma Kolb of Pella Christian won the girls 3000 meter run, while teammate Allison Van Gorp won the shot put.
On the boys side, PCM’s 129 points were enough to hold off Pella, who scored 122.5. Pella Christian’s 102 points were good for fourth and Pleasantville took sixth with 73.
The Mustangs champions included Preston Van Wyk in the 100, Noah Anderson in the 200, Payton Strovers in the long jump, and the 4×100 and 4×200 meter relay teams.
For Pella, Avery Van Zee won the 800, Thomas Gauley swept the 1600 and 3200, Nick DeJong won the shot put, Kody Huisman took the discus crown, and the shuttle hurdle relay team took gold.
