Few schools in the state have had as much success on the track for both their boys and girls programs than PCM in 2018. On Thursday the Trojans once again proved their dominance, as the girls walked away with a team title at South Tama and the boys placed third at Eddyville-Blakesburg.
The girls captured the title with 98 points on the strength of two first place finishes that were personal best times. Sierra Foster took care of business in the 400m dash (1:02.53) and Margo Chipps won the 400m hurdles (1:08.57). Second place finishes include Ashley Miller in the 100m, the 4x400m relay team, and shuttle hurdle relay team. Head Coach Bridget Martin tells KNIA/KRLS Sports that the meet was filled with tough teams and the win proves that they are a great team that provides a lot of depth.
The boys’ team traveled to Eddyville-Blakesburg and finished third in the 13-team meet with 86 points. Mount Pleasant won the event with 151 points. Noah Anderson was a man on a mission winning the 100m (11.17 seconds) and 200m (22.38 seconds) dashes. Anderson was also a part of the champion 4x200m relay team (1:32.01) along with Payton Strovers, Wes Cummings, and Preston VanWyk. Other top finishes include VanWyk was second in the 200m dash and Strovers was second in the long jump.
