PCM boys’ soccer fans might not have any nails to bite by season’s end. Last night, the Mustangs participated in their fifth overtime contest of the season. Oh, by the way, the team is on game seven. After falling in each of those previous four heartbreakers, the Mustangs were able to bust through and sent Bondurant-Farrar packing with a 3-2 shootout win.
Misha Seebeck got the party started in the first half by finding the back of the net and the Mustangs held a 1-0 lead at the break. The Bluejays went to work in the second half scoring back-to-back goals to capture a late lead. Down 2-1 with time running out, Alex Lewis found the equalizer in the final minute of regulation to force overtime. Both defenses hung tough in extra time and the Mustangs seized the win after shootout goals from Colin Peterson and Jason Stafford.
The Mustangs improve to 2-5 on the season and fans don’t have much time to breathe, as they get right back on the pitch today for a Des Moines Christian tournament.
