The Tulip Time Steering Committee is reminding residents of rules related to the three-day festival, as well as details about those that are new this May.
Chair Paul Jones tells KNIA/KRLS News they were happy with the compliance of residents in not leaving tarps out along the parade route overnight after the rule was implemented last year. He says they want visitors to have the same kind of access to good viewing spots as locals do. Residents can still set blankets and tarps out in the early morning hours, but they have to be moved from the route each night after the evening parade.
New this year, Jones says skateboards and scooters will not be allowed inside the main pedestrian areas during the festival, as they have received reports of walkers being hit by the faster moving traffic. Also, golf carts without a permit will not be allowed for use, as many unauthorized drivers who were not affiliated in an official capacity were giving shuttle rides, causing a liability issue for all involved.
The 83rd annual Tulip Time is May 3rd through the 5th. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS, the official radio station of the festival.
