The Knoxville Girl Scout troop will hold a Patch in a Night Event tonight.

The goal of the event is to educate girls and parents about the benefits of joining girl scouts, and to help grow their numbers by offering registration and a patch. Troop leader Elly Shaw tells KNIA/KRLS News she was hesitant to volunteer at first, but after signing up and taking the plunge she realized that it didn’t take up nearly as much time as she thought as the troop can make their own schedule and gets a ton of resources from the state organization.

Shaw also said that she works full time, owns a business, and is a full-time mom, and she still has plenty of time to work volunteering for Girl Scouts so anyone who wants to volunteer shouldn’t be worried about the time commitment.

The Patch in a Night Event will be held at the Marion County Extension Office, with registration starting at 5:15pm, and activities for kids and parents running from 5:45 – 7pm. For more information on the Girl Scout troops in Marion County, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
