Marion County residents interested in wildlife and conservation can participate in the 2nd Annual Spring Awakening BioBlitz on Saturday morning at Cordova Park.
The Iowa Prairie Network and Dr. Pete Eyheralde will be leading groups to learn about the wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians that call Cordova Park home. Marion County Naturalist Marla Mertz tells KNIA/KRLS News the biggest reason to participate is simple, it’s fun. It’s fun to learn about our environment, how it interacts with the world, it brings a closer connection to our natural resources, and you get to meet some people who are interested in the same things. Those interested in participating can meet at the Cordova Observation Tower shelter area at Cordova Park beginning at 9am. The event is co-sponsored by the Marion County Conservation Board and the Red Rock Lake Association education committee.
