Longtime Knoxville Hospital and Clinics employee Barb Anderson is retiring after 47 years.

Barb was hired at Collins Hospital after graduating from the medical laboratory program at DMACC, and has been working in the lab since then. Anderson tells KNIA/KRLS News the local aspect of her work is what has made it so great.

Growing up here, going to school here, and then spending her life here makes it feel as if this is her place in the world where she can make a difference and be happy at the same time. Anderson also said interacting and helping people is what makes retirement hard, so she will be putting in some part time work at the hospital right away.
