The State Historical Society of Iowa’s “Iowa History 101” mobile museum is on the road again, resuming its three-year mission to visit all 99 Iowa counties by the end of next year.
Pella Historical Society Executive Director Valerie Van Kooten tells KNIA/KRLS News it will be at Pella Public Library June 28th through the 30th. She says idea for the mobile museum emerged a few years ago from a series of community conversations organized by the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, which oversees the State Historical Society. Launched in 2017, the 300-square-foot museum is housed in a bright-blue, custom-built Winnebago and is traveling the state’s highways and back roads to share stories from Iowa’s past.
