Pella’s individual qualifiers in the state girls tennis tournament are expected to contend for a state championship next week, based on pairings released by the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Union.

Pella’s Brooke Jorgensen is ranked 2nd in Class 1A in the singles bracket, while the doubles pair of Cecily Johnson and Bronwyn Metcalf are the 3rd ranked doubles pair. Jorgensen finished in 3rd place in 2017, while Metcalf and Johnson wrapped up a top eight finish last spring.

Johnson tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they look forward to returning as a duo and competing against the best tennis pairs in the state.

The Individual and Doubles State Tennis Tournament begins Wednesday, May 30th.
