A plea agreement was reached between the Marion County Attorney’s Office and Andrew Trey Murphy Thursday, as Murphy pled guilty to possession with intent to deliver less than five grams of methamphetamine, a class C felony and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony.
Murphy was arrested in April after a traffic stop where an officer found baggies of methamphetamine and a hypodermic needle. Murphy was originally charged with possession with intent to deliver more than five grams, a class B felony. Murphy faces ten years in prison for possession with intent to deliver, and five years for failure to affix a drug tax stamp to be run consecutively, however the Marion County Attorney’s Office recommends the sentence be suspended, and Murphy receive two years of probation. A sentencing date has been set for July 19th.
