A sexual assault occurring in August of 2017 has led to the arrest of a California man in Marion County.

According to court documents, a victim statement has led to the arrest of 26-year-old Dayne Amyx of Cottonwood, California on charges of sexual abuse in the third degree. Court documents show that the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a statement from the victim that Amyx forced unwanted sexual contact at the Marion County Fairgrounds on August 10th of 2017, night three of the 2017 Knoxville Nationals. Amyx was booked into the Marion County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Both the victim and the defendant are from out of state, with Amyx traveling to Marion County and turning himself in to the Sheriff’s Office upon request.
