Some early morning rain didn’t stop the First Annual Kids Fishing Day from proceeding at Marion County Park this morning.

Over thirty children were taught some of the basics of fishing including knot tying, casting, and reeling. Prizes were given away to each participant, including a prize for biggest fish caught. Knoxville Police Office Jamie Robinson tells KNIA/KRLS News that he could see the progression firsthand and he hopes kids stick with it in the future, and that if the weather cooperates a little better next year he hopes it gets bigger and bigger. Robinson also said that he was just glad the kids had a lot of fun and he wants to thank all the sponsors of the event.
