Unofficial results have been released from the Marion County Auditor’s Office for the Marion County Primary Elections held Tuesday.
Kisha Jahner passed the requisite 35% barrier to claim the Republican Party nomination for Marion County Board of Supervisors, with 39.94% of the vote. Marty Van Vliet was second with 23.3% of the vote, and Michael Moats a close third with 23%. Jahner tells KNIA/KRLS News that winning the nomination doesn’t mean the work stops.

The races for Iowa House District 28 was contested on both the Democratic and Republican Party sides. Official results will add the Jasper County and Lucas County votes to the total for each candidate.
Jon Thorup won the Marion County vote with a 69.09% majority, with Jon Van Wyk receiving 30.54% of the vote.
House District 28 – Republican Party

Jon Thorup won the overall nomination for House district 28, defeating Jon Van Wyk 61.5% to 38.5% (1,150 – 721). Thorup tells KNIA/KRLS News that he is excited and looks forward to moving on to the next phase of the campaign, and is interested in having a good debate.
On the Democratic Party side Anne Fields won with 87.19% of the vote over Zachary Pendroy with 12.81%.

Anne Fields won the overall nomination 82.3% to 17.7% (1,017 to 219). Fields tells KNIA/KRLS News that she is extremely humbled to have received so many people’s votes and that now the hard work begins.
The uncontested Marion County races saw Ed Bull win nomination for County Attorney, Karen Schwanebeck for County Recorder, and Michaela Bigouette for County Treasurer.
