A plea agreement was reached between the Marion County Attorney’s Office and Dawn Simmons on Thursday, as Simmons plead guilty to a conspiracy to deliver less than five grams of methamphetamine, a class C felony.
Simmons was originally arrested in April on charges of conspiracy with intent to deliver more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony, after the search of a phone from a separate drug arrest led to text messages showing Simmons conspired to buy an ounce of meth to be sold for profit. Simmons faces 10 years in prison, however, the Marion County Attorney’s Office recommended Simmons be sentenced to a deferred judgment and probation, along with a substance abuse evaluation, all pending a pre-sentence investigation. Sentencing is scheduled for July 26th.
