Several OWI and drug convictions have led to a Warren County man facing up to eight years in prison after being arrested in Pleasantville.
Michael Dow Parker, 47, was arrested in early May after a traffic stop, and charged with possession of methamphetamine, an OWI, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp. The OWI was Parker’s second, which carries a sentence of two years, and the possession of methamphetamine third offense, which carries a sentence of five years, plus another year for a probation violation to be run consecutively. Parker was held in the Marion County Jail on no bond due to the probation violation, but after a passionate plea by Parker in the courtroom stating his intent to treat his addiction head-on, the bond was reduced to $1,000 on conditions of drug testing and an ankle monitor. A sentencing hearing will take place on July 19th, where the defense will request a suspended sentence.
