Trailing most of the game, the PCM baseball team got some late inning magic to down Heart of Iowa Conference foe Gilbert 8-7 in eight innings on Monday night.
The Mustangs trailed 7-3 heading into the final inning when the offense went to work and pushed across four runs to force extras. After loading up the bases in the eighth, Wes Cummings was the hero hitting a walk off single to complete the comeback. Cummings finished with three hits and three RBI. Preston Van Wyk got the win on the bump in 2 2/3 innings and also cashed in on four hits offensively. Head Coach Jeff Lindsay tells KNIA/KRLS Sports patience and discipline at the plate in the later innings contributed to the big comeback.
The Mustangs improve to 7-8 and will get back at it Wednesday traveling to Nevada.
