The Oskaloosa baseball team has had Knoxville’s number this season but the Panthers would not go down without a fight last night before falling to the Indians 4-2.
In a game heard live on KNIA the Indians struck first in the second on an absolute bomb to centerfield off the bat of Noah VanVeldhuizen in the second inning to plate a pair of runs. The Panthers utilized some small ball in the bottom half of the inning, as a Kyle Ramsey sac fly cut the deficit to 2-1. Oskaloosa added one more in the third before once again Ramsey came up big in the fourth with a single to right to drive in a run. The Panthers had a prime opportunity in the fifth to tie or take the lead with the bases loaded but a double play ended the threat. The Indians tacked on one more to escape town with a victory and cap off a three game season sweep of the Panthers. Rylan Cox got the loss on the mound throwing six innings of nine hit ball and giving up two earned runs. Jacob Zuck and Carter Bailey also added hits for the Panthers. Knoxville fell to 12-9 on the season while the Indians improved to 13-5.
The Panthers will look to bounce back tomorrow hosting Albia.
