Those planning to spend time at Lake Red Rock this weekend can enjoy a wide range of activities.

On Friday, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is hosting Let’s Go Paddling from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Roberts Creek east ramp. Park Ranger Tracy Spry says the popular event allows participants to enjoy canoeing and kayaking in the same day. A busy Saturday begins with a Spider Hike at 9 a.m. at the Playscape. A special presentation titled Red Rock: The Town Beneath the Lake, will be held at 1 p.m. at the Red Rock Visitor Center, which highlights the town of Red Rock, a once-thriving community before the dam was built.

Live snakes will be shown at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Wallashuck Campground. Bobber the Water Safety Dog will make an appearance at Whitebreast Beach at 3 p.m. that afternoon, and the evening concludes with Geocaching at Wallashuck at 7 p.m. Programs are free of charge and reservations are not needed.
