The Pella School Board approved a new preschool transportation fee to help provide funding for a new service coming this academic year.
Superintendent Greg Ebeling tells KNIA/KRLS News midday transportation for preschool students will be now be offered. Ebeling says one of the biggest barriers for parents of young students was the half-day schedule the preschool program offers, as transporting a child from school to daycare was difficult for parents who work out of town or couldn’t make their schedules match in the middle of the day. Additionally, preschool students are now allowed to use the bus to get to and from home or daycare in the morning and afternoon.
Parents who elect to participate in the midday transportation option will be charged $130 for the entire school year at registration. Hear more about this week’s Pella School Board meeting on Let’s Talk Pella.
