When Joe Steinkamp took over as Central College’s women’s basketball coach a year ago, it left a void in the men’s program as he was the top assistant under coach Craig Douma.
Obinno Agomo, or Coach O-B as he’s better known, filled the vacancy, and Douma is excited about the partnership they’ve formed, and the future that they have together.
“We learned a lot about each other, we get along great, he’s a lot of fun. The kids love Coach O-B. He’s a great athlete, the dude plays way above the rim, he was a special player. But he’s also a special young man. He’s a Christian and a great example for our guys. We just love what Coach O-B has done for our program, and he’s grown a lot as a coach.”
Central is coming off a 12-16 season in which they played one of the toughest schedules in the country, and had eventual national champion Nebraska Wesleyan on the ropes in the IIAC title game.
While they lost a good bit of talent off that team, and have another very challenging schedule in front of them, Douma is excited about the prospects for the upcoming season and the future of the Central College men’s basketball team.
