A Knoxville woman was arrested on charges of identity theft last week after withdrawing money from ATMs from an account that was not hers.
According to court records, Knoxville Police received a complaint from a victim that someone had stolen his debit card and was taking money out of his account without permission. After investigation, the woman was identified as Dawn Simmons, who through video surveillance from the ATM was observed going to multiple locations and withdrawing over $3,500. Simmons is charged with identity theft over $1,000 and theft in the 2nd degree, both class D felonies.
