The Knoxville 4th of July on the Square celebration hosted by THRIVE Knoxville was yesterday, with many events seeing a lot of participants.
Over 100 runners participated in the Knoxville Police Department Freedom 5k, enjoyed a pancake breakfast at the Knoxville Fire Department, and yoga to wrap up the morning session. The afternoon saw a kids parade, bags tournament, face painting, live music from local talent, a dodgeball tournament, and a best burger contest among other activities. Organizer of the best burger contest Dave Garcia tells KNIA/KRLS News it was just fun to keep everyone in town and have a good community celebration because it is something that we have been lacking in the past and there is no better way to celebrate the 4th of July by getting together and grilling up some great food. Mark Zuck was the winner of the burger contest. Zuck tells KNIA/KRLS News it was a great event and he hopes everyone comes back and starts a tradition. The KNIA/KRLS Big Red Radio was at Peace Tree Brewing Company playing music during the contest, and patriotic music was played from 9-11pm during the county fireworks celebrations.
