After an 11-game losing streak to begin the season, it would have been easy for Pella Christian’s young softball team to rollover in a conference that features three teams in next week’s state softball tournament.
Junior Ivy Terpstra tells KNIA/KRLS Sports the team vastly improved throughout the year, and despite some tough losses, it was a fun to watch the growth.
“Last year’s team was full of excellent leadership–I was one of the youngest players, and being able to see them lead was really big for me, and they accepted me so well,” she says. “So being able to do that now for the younger players is also huge and getting to see them improve with me is really fun.”
Pella Christian, after dropping their first 11 games, went 12-13 the rest of the way, including a crushing upset of Van Meter in the 2nd round of the 2A tournament.
