An informational meeting on the solar energy project agreement between the City of Knoxville, the Knoxville Community School District, and Red Lion Renewables was held last night at the school administration building.
Knoxville High School science teacher Ryan Richardson tells KNIA/KRLS News in addition to providing clean, renewable energy to the school district, the solar panels will also allow the students of Knoxville to participate in new projects related to the solar panels by being able to see data from the energy produced by the panels, learning how they produce energy, and most of all being able to build a database on how much the school can save by participating in the project. The agreement will place solar energy panels on 15 buildings around Knoxville, and offset 80-90% of the power used by those buildings.
