A tornado warning was issued for Marion County Thursday afternoon from 3:37 to 4:45pm.
Confirmed tornadoes were reported by law enforcement and trained weather spotters. Vermeer Corporation received significant damage, including destruction of some of the plants and numerosu cars flung from the parking lot, as well as reports of injuries. Pella Coop Electric Reports that over 1000 customers were without power at one point, however most residents have had power restored and only residents to the southeast portion of town are without power. As of now, there have been no reports of serious injuries from the storm.
Closures have been reported on Vermeer Road and on 240th Place near Vermeer Corporation.
