The Knoxville Community School District is no longer eligible for the free lunch grant provided by the Community Eligibility Provision program.
Business Manager Craig Mobley tells KNIA/KRLS News that the district received updated information from the Department of Education regarding the qualification standards, and after analysis the Community Eligibility Program would result in a loss of about $110,000 per year for the district. Superintendent Cassi Pearson said that the free and reduced lunch prices are still available, the same as in years past and any family that feels they may qualify for a free or reduced lunch can and should still apply. Pearson also said that applications for free and reduced lunches can be turned in to the district office at any time.
