Our number eight sports moment for Knoxville was just a few weeks ago as the Panther baseball squad finished a 30-12 season and the South Central Conference title. What was so impressive about this past season was the Panthers at one time had a 14-10 record were and trailing Centerville in the South Central Conference. Coach Matt Miller was hoping for a 500 season, but what he got was a team that finished 16-2 and with a little help, took control of the conference by season’s end. Miller says the last 18 games of the season, Knoxville was a different team. In those final 18 games, Knoxville beat two teams that qualified for the state tournament, Bondurant-Farrar and Centerville. The Panthers also got a signature win over Indianola on July sixth.
