The Top 10 countdown continues for Pleasantville sports for 2017-18 with number four.
The Trojan softball team finished the 2018 campaign winners in 17 of their final 22 contests. Their final win came in the regional semifinal round with a pitcher’s dual victory over Pella Christian 3-2. Pleasantville wasted no time getting the bats going scoring a pair of runs in the first including a solo shot by Makenzie McGriff. The Eagles found the equalizer the next inning but a two-out RBI single off the bat of Faith Vander Hart in the fifth gave the Trojans a lead they never relinquished. Abby DeJoode was dealing in the circle with seven innings of six hit ball, one earned run, and six strikeouts. Amber McKinney went 3-for-3 with one RBI to lead the team.
The Trojans advanced to the regional final where they lost to Des Moines Christian to finish the year 22-11.
