The first peek at the 2018 Pleasantville and PCM football teams will be Friday when the area schools meet in Pleasantville for a scrimmage.
Both schools are coming off of playoff seasons in 2017 but one team will look to reload with new faces leading the charge while another brings back plenty of experience. PCM will be full of veterans, as they bring back their top returners in numerous offensive and defensive categories from a 7-2 season. Reed Worth returns for his senior season as the play caller looking to build off of 1,534 passing yards and 24 touchdowns last year. Wes Cummings returns as the leading rushing with 913 yards last year and Preston Van Wyk hauled in 17 receptions for 507 yards. The defense is sitting pretty as well, bringing back their top five tacklers including Jarron Trausch with 36 in 2017.
Experience is few and far between for Pleasantville graduating all but one starter from last year’s 8-3 squad that qualified for the state quarterfinals. Grant Fouch was a starter on both sides of the ball last year hauling in eight receptions for 125 yards as a receiver and compiled 23 tackles defensively. Cael Lester is a player to watch rushing for 533 yards and eight touchdowns.
The first look at the 2018 season will get started at 7 p.m. Friday at Pleasantville High School.
