The PCM Mustangs proved to be the power of Jasper County Friday evening in Newton.
The Mustangs handed the Cardinals an opening season 50-10 beating at H. A. Lynn Stadium in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Newton would come out quick establishing their run game on the offensive side of the ball connecting on a 24 yard field goal to take an early 3-0 lead. The Cardinals would go up 10-0 early in the second quarter before PCM’s Reed Worth would connect with Brayton VanDyke on an incredible 80 yard touchdown throw after escaping multiple sack opportunities from the Newton defense. Worth’s touchdown would be the start of 50 straight points for the Mustangs who would not allow Newton to score the rest of the game. PCM Head Coach Greg Bonnett tells KNIA/ KRLS Sports his quarterback is the type of kid you trust to bring your team back. Bonnett says when the games on the line, when your team needs a hit, or when a free throw needs to be made, Reed Worth is the kids you want with the ball in his hands.
Next up the for the Mustangs is another road trip to West Marshall after the Trojans took down #1 ranked in class 2A Williamsburg on Friday.
