Boy Scout Troop 373 provided trail markers at Big Rock Park on the northwest side of Pella as part of an Eagle Scout Project.
Jacob Byers with Troop 373 helped lead a group of volunteers to place the markers Saturday morning, and tells KNIA/KRLS News they will provide better direction on the trails, as well as help emergency responders locate individuals who may be injured or lost by providing a system of colors, shapes, and numbers to identify certain spots in the park.
Four-inch wood posts were painted with the details. Byers says this is just the latest in a series of Eagle Scout projects in the community, which is a good sign for the growth of the scouts in the area. Hear more about the Eagle Scout project on Tuesday’s Let’s Talk Pella.
