Rainfall prompted a flash flood warning in the northeast part of Marion County Wednesday.
In the Pella area, between 3-4” of precipitation fell throughout the day, with approximately two inches dumping between 10:30 and 11:45 a.m. Street flooding was reported, and Sunken Gardens pond topped its banks, with the Central College pond nearly filling as well. Additionally, flash flooding was reported to the National Weather Service in the New Sharon and Leighton areas.
Throughout the rest of the county, between 1” and 1.75” of rain was reported.
Since August 28th, most local communities have received anywhere between 2” and 7” of rain in that time frame, according to reported rain gauge totals and National Weather Service radar estimates, with most falling along and north of the Des Moines River.
