Congressman Dave Loebsack toured the Knoxville Municipal Airport Saturday.
The tour also involved discussing the recently awarded $300,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration grant program. Congressman Loebsack told KNIA/KRLS News the lack of hangar space is an issue, not only in Knoxville but across the region because the Des Moines Airport can’t service all the planes so he will do what he can with the FAA to try to get more hangar space for local airports. Owner of Knoxville Aviation Dan Van Donselaar tells KNIA/KRLS News the airport holds 51 planes, and needs hangar space for at least 20 more.
