As with any sports program, the goal of the season is to get the competitors at their peak at the end of the season. This is especially true for cross country and for PCM that means changing their training process throughout the year.
Head Coach Eric Karr tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they have transitioned into their midseason training regime to gear up for the home stretch of the year.
“We are starting to transition from the aerobic exercises to getting into the anaerobic to burn those sugars out of the body. Now is the time of the year to work on speed rather than endurance. The fact is we have to be fast at the beginning and end of a race and maintain in the middle.”
The Mustangs have cut back on meets this year to stay fresh for the state-qualifying meet. They will get back on the course tomorrow at Pleasantville.
